Effective May 1, 2018, Local Law 133 expands the list of buildings required to benchmark their energy and water consumption to those larger than 25,000 sq ft. Buildings larger than 50,000 sq ft have been required to do so since Local Law 84 was implemented in 2010.

Benchmarking increases transparency regarding energy and water usage and is often a first step for boards in making their buildings operate more efficiently.

Unless otherwise directed, our FS Energy subsidiary will manage the benchmarking process for clients that must comply with LL133 or LL84 to ensure that penalties are not incurred.

For questions about benchmarking compliance, please speak with your property manager. To learn more about what the annual benchmarking process entails, click here.
