FirstService Residential Community, Desert Ridge, Partners with City of Phoenix to Restore Cashman Park
FirstService Residential, the leading community management company in Arizona, today announces the partnership between the Desert Ridge Community Association and the City of Phoenix to renovate Cashman Park in Phoenix, AZ. This partnership is the first of its kind, allowing the upgrade of a City of Phoenix public park to be financed with private funds from a community association. FirstService Residential supported these efforts with a $10,000 pledge towards the proposed Cashman Park improvements.

The Desert Ridge Community Association began the Cashman Park improvement process approximately three years ago when interested parents and homeowners within the Desert Ridge community came to the Board of Directors to discuss the need to upgrade the local park. The Desert Ridge Community Association received approval to fund the restoration of the 16 year old Cashman Park located in the heart of the Desert Ridge community. The association members approved using $500,000 of association funds to upgrade park amenities which will include new playground equipment, a fitness obstacle course, enhanced landscaping, new ramada areas, reorientation of the volleyball courts, resurfaced basketball courts, additional park benches, retrofitting the irrigation components, installation of additional shade structures and more. AAA Landscaping has been contracted to construct the Cashman Park improvements. In addition, the Cashman Park parking lot will receive a facelift consisting of asphalt repairs, repaving and restriping compliments of Sunland Asphalt.
“The culmination of this agreement with the City of Phoenix is a significant achievement and demonstrates what can be accomplished from the commitment, diligent effort, perseverance and determination within the Desert Ridge community to better the lives of our residents. The Cashman Park improvements will enhance the park amenities for our current residents and future generations of families in Desert Ridge.” said Terrance Smith, Desert Ridge Community General Manager.
Construction of the Cashman Park improvements will begin in May 2014 and is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of Fall 2014. The Desert Ridge Community Association will be hosting a groundbreaking ceremony at Cashman Park on May 28, 2014.
