FirstService Residential Participates in the Largest Volunteer Cleanup Effort to Protect Beaches and Waterways in Lee County
Estero, Fla. (September 30, 2020) - FirstService Residential, North America’s property management leader, recently participated in International Coastal Cleanup Month hosted by Keep Lee County Beautiful.
FirstService Residential joined the world’s largest volunteer effort for oceans and waterways to fight plastic pollution in honor of the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup Month. Associates and their families gathered to remove litter and debris from the beaches and waterways in Lee County.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s cleanup featured new protocols for the use of personal protective equipment and social distancing. All volunteers were required to wear face masks in order to participate and work in small groups to promote safety for all participants.
Ocean Conservancy’s mission is to protect the ocean from today’s greatest global challenges. The organization creates science-based solutions for a healthy ocean and the wildlife and communities that depend on it. International Coastal Cleanup, now in its 35th year, is a massive data collection event that generates the world's largest database of marine trash. The yearly findings help scientists and policy makers advocate for the health of wildlife, people and local economies.
