Giving Back to the Communities We Serve

Every day, FirstService Residential associates work hard to make a difference and enhance the quality of life for the residents of the communities we serve. Aside from exceptional customer service and support, we look to help those in need through our Operation Benevolent Heart program. Through this program, we encourage board members to nominate members of their communities who are experiencing hardship and need our financial support – everything from assisting in landscaping costs, to paying assessment fees, to building a wheelchair access ramp. At the end of each month, we select one individual to receive funds to assist with their current circumstances.

Towards the end of 2015, a family in the Stetson Ranch community was facing a series of challenging events including battling cancer, the death of a loved one, car troubles and a military deployment. Because of the financial stress and unfortunate circumstances this family had endured, the community manager nominated them for the program. FirstService Residential honored them with the award and donated funds to assist with the painting of their home.

In March of 2016, a homeowner in Paseo at Coronado Ranch was on assignment with the United States Army. Because of her deployment, she fell behind on her dues and was subject to pre-collection and late fees. In April, she was nominated by her board for the Operation Benevolent Heart program. FirstService Residential donated money to assist in paying her past due assessments.

Lastly, a homeowner in the Via Valencia – Via Ventura community at Mountains Edge experienced a tragic life-changing accident causing her to be out of work indefinitely. With her husband also out of work for at least a year, their son is the sole financial contributor for their household expenses. In August 2016, the family was named the recipient of Operation Benevolent Heart. The donated funds from FirstService Residential will cover an entire year of their assessment fees.

This program, through the combined efforts of board members and our associates, has given FirstService Residential the opportunity to be genuinely helpful to residents in need within our managed communities. We invite you to nominate one deserving family and/or homeowner in your community that is in need of some assistance due to an unforeseen hardship.

Together, we can make a difference.
